Bongaigaon officials inspect markets to combat rising food prices

Guwahati: A special task force in Bongaigaon conducted a market inspection at Borobazar on Friday to address concerns regarding the rising costs of essential goods. The initiative, directed by the District Commissioner, aims to improve market regulation and protect consumers from unfair pricing.

The inspection team included representatives from the Fisheries Department, the Bongaigaon Municipal Board, and the Food and Civil Supplies Department. During their visits to local shops, officials discovered that many business owners were failing to provide price lists for their products.

Authorities instructed these shopkeepers to display clear pricing for all items to ensure transparency. Officials confirmed that these enforcement efforts will continue in the future to maintain market standards and prevent the overpricing of necessary commodities.
