Bodoland University Denies Irregularities in PhD Award Process

Guwahati: Bodoland University Vice-Chancellor B.L. Ahuja has dismissed recent media reports alleging irregularities in the institution's PhD program. During a press conference, Prof. Ahuja labeled the claims as baseless and suggested they were part of a coordinated effort to harm the university's reputation.

He specifically addressed rumors that 127 doctoral degrees were invalid and that the University Grants Commission had summoned officials to New Delhi for disciplinary reasons. Prof. Ahuja maintained that the university adheres strictly to all academic regulations set by the national commission.

Regarding a May 26 meeting with the commission, the Vice-Chancellor explained that the event was a routine review for several universities across the country. He clarified that the gathering was an administrative discussion rather than a summons or a punitive measure against the institution.

Representatives from the Bodoland University Teachers Association, including Ratul Deka and Janin Musahary, supported these statements. They criticized local media outlets for biased reporting and warned that misinformation could confuse the public about the school's academic standards. University officials remain committed to their current research practices and urged the public to disregard the recent allegations.
