Itanagar: Banderdewa Police arrested two individuals and recovered 23.45 grams of suspected heroin during a targeted anti-drug operation. Officers intercepted the suspects near the Hanuman Mandir while conducting a vehicle check based on intelligence regarding narcotics being transported from Assam into Arunachal Pradesh.
A police team led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, acting under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo, searched the suspects' Yamaha Ray-Z scooter in the presence of independent witnesses. The search yielded 18 vials containing the suspected contraband along with 610 rupees in cash. The suspects were identified as Nabam Subash, a resident of Ganga Market in Itanagar, and Raj Pordung from Seppa.
Authorities registered a case at the Banderdewa Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Investigators are currently processing the evidence as they work to uncover further details regarding the trafficking operation. Superintendent of Police for the ICR, Dr. Nyelam Nega, stated that the Arunachal Pradesh Police remains focused on "combating drug trafficking and protecting society from the menace of narcotics through sustained enforcement efforts and community cooperation."
