Guwahati: Forest officials in the Sonapur Range seized a dumper truck loaded with illegal sand during a late-night operation on May 23. Authorities intercepted the vehicle while conducting a patrol to stop the unlawful transport of natural resources from the Morigaon area. During questioning, the driver admitted that the sand was being moved without proper authorization.

This enforcement action follows the recent appointment of Range Officer Bhargab Hazarika, who has prioritized monitoring and surveillance to curb illegal mining. The seizure serves as a key moment in a larger campaign to address persistent smuggling concerns within the jurisdiction.

Local officials confirmed that strict measures remain in place to prevent future violations. The Sonapur Range administration plans to continue these targeted operations to protect local resources and ensure stricter regulatory compliance in the coming weeks.
