Shillong: Australia grabbed a thrilling 12-10 overtime win against Canada in Women’s 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Georgia Munro-Cook hit the decisive shots to beat the defending champions after Elodie Tessier forced the extra period with a last-gasp basket. Munro-Cook scored six points in regulation and added both required points in overtime. Australia finished as runners-up in Pool A behind England, who maintained their perfect record by beating South Africa.
Munro-Cook celebrated the win after the buzzer. “That was one of the most exciting games I’ve ever played in,” she said. Canada remains a top contender, but this result gives Australia massive momentum.
Canada flexed its muscles elsewhere on Monday, grabbing three of the five gold medals available in individual apparatus gymnastics. Felix Dolci won the Men’s Rings with a 13.766 score, edging out teammate William Emard. Jordan Carroll secured gold on the Pommel Horse, while Lia-Monica Fontaine claimed the Women’s Vault title. James Hardy added a bronze medal to his collection, following his previous podium finish on the Floor.
Australia’s Kate McDonald struck gold in the Women’s Uneven Bars, putting up a high-difficulty routine worth 14.333. Canadian star Ellie Black took silver in the event. Elsewhere, England’s Luke Whitehouse won the Men’s Floor gold to round out a busy day of competition.
