Guwahati: The beloved 1983 Assamese family drama Kokadeuta Nati Aru Hati is returning to the big screen with a highly anticipated sequel. Scheduled for a July 3 theatrical release, the new film seeks to bridge the gap between regional cultural heritage and contemporary cinema.

Produced by Pride East Entertainment, the project was conceptualized by Chairperson Riniki Bhuyan Sharma. The film represents a significant investment in local storytelling, aiming to balance nostalgic appeal with the high production standards expected by modern audiences. As the production team noted regarding their mission to preserve regional narratives, the initiative highlights "artistic value over commercial gain" while celebrating the legacy of the original work.

Director Biswajeet Bora leads the production, working from a screenplay by Bhaskar Hazarika. The cast features Pranjal Saikia, who starred in the original film, stepping into the role of the grandfather. Popular actor Utpal Das plays the grandson, with Jatin Bora appearing as the son of Saikia’s character. The ensemble cast includes notable names such as Adil Hussain, Tapan Das, and Prostuti Porasor. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who famously appeared in the original film as a child actor, will make a cameo appearance in the sequel.

The film’s musical score involves a collaboration between Joi Barua, Pranoy Dutta, and Tarali Sarma. The soundtrack has already begun to generate buzz, particularly the romantic track Runjun, which was composed and performed by Zubeen Garg. With cinematography by Pradip Daimary and sound design led by Amrit Pritam and Debojit Changmai, the sequel aims to honor the emotional resonance of the 1983 classic while introducing a fresh perspective for current moviegoers.
