Guwahati: A woman from Lutapara village in Assam's Dhubri district has filed a formal complaint against a local man, accusing him of concealing his identity to entrap her into a forced marriage and religious conversion. The complainant claims the man, identified as Minar Hussain from Suryakhata Part-II, initially introduced himself as a Hindu to initiate a relationship.
According to the police report, Hussain allegedly recorded intimate photos and videos of the woman without her knowledge. She claims he later used this material to blackmail her, pressuring her to convert to Islam. Following the conversion, she says she was forced to marry under the name Khadija Begum. The victim further alleges that she endured physical, mental, and sexual abuse while living in rented accommodations with the accused.
The woman sought help from the Dhubri Superintendent of Police after claiming that the Bilasipara Police Station failed to take immediate action on her initial report. Bilasipara police have since registered case number 144/26 against Hussain and four others, identified as Yusuf Ali, Golebanu Bibi, Mafrija Begum, and Naosad Ali.
Authorities have not yet made any arrests or issued an official statement regarding the case. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to verify the details provided in the complaint.
