Guwahati: Assam is betting big on space technology to fix its governance woes. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed on July 3 that the state is shifting toward high-tech tools to solve long-term development issues.

The Assam State Space Application Centre remains at the heart of this push. The agency finished more than 60 projects in just five years. These efforts cover mapping, climate forecasting, and complex geospatial tasks. The state relies on these tools for evidence-based decision-making and better planning.

Sarma says the work makes life easier for citizens. "The initiatives are aimed at using scientific tools and space-based technologies to strengthen governance and provide long-term solutions to developmental and environmental challenges across the state." These projects ensure that public services reach the people who need them most.
