Assam student hospitalized after alleged assault by school headmaster

Guwahati: A Class X student from Sarupeta High School in Assam’s Bajali district was hospitalized following an alleged physical assault by his headmaster. The student, Ratul Rajbongshi of Kolbari village, required medical attention for his injuries after the incident occurred on school grounds.

Following the news, the student’s family and local community members gathered at the school to confront the headmaster, Sanjiv Kumar Talukdar. The crowd demanded an explanation and called for formal accountability regarding the incident. Some local residents claimed that Talukdar, who joined the school two months ago, had faced similar allegations of physical punishment in the past, though these reports remain unconfirmed.

The incident has caused significant unrest in the area, leaving parents concerned about student safety at the institution. Authorities are currently reviewing the situation as the local community continues to seek further information.
