Guwahati: The Assam Special Task Force (STF) disrupted a significant heroin smuggling attempt in Guwahati’s Amingaon area. Officers arrested three suspects, including two women, after intelligence reports indicated that a large shipment of narcotics was moving toward Lower Assam.
Under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Pathak, the team intercepted a vehicle registered as AS 01 KC 0971. During the search, authorities discovered that the suspects had strapped the heroin to their bodies to evade detection. The arrested individuals are Asmina Parbin, Mehrun Nessa Khatun, and Mohammad Somez Ali.
Officials believe the trio is part of a wider criminal network responsible for distributing illegal substances in the region. Police are currently interrogating the group to track the origin of the drugs. According to officials, the accused had allegedly "adopted a concealed method to transport the contraband by strapping the heroin around their bodies" to avoid police inspection. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify other members of the smuggling ring.
