Guwahati: Young athlete Navhyam Nihan Borah from Assam earned a silver medal at the 2026 International Speed Skating Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia. Held from May 29 to 31, the event drew competitors from across Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Indonesia.

Borah secured his second-place finish in the 400-metre speed race within the Basic Inline Skating Boys Category C. His efforts extended beyond the podium as he reached the semi-finals of the 500-metre race and narrowly missed the final round of the 300-metre event. He also competed in the 1800-metre international team relay alongside two other Indian skaters, completing the race with a strong performance despite missing the medal cut.

This international success follows a stellar start to the year for Borah, who won the 25th National Speed Skating Championship in Chennai this past January. His recent achievements in Jakarta have established him as a rising talent in Indian sports and a source of pride for his home state.
