Shillong: The Assam Regimental Centre in Shillong officially inducted 783 new soldiers into the Indian Army on Friday. The passing-out parade included 320 Agniveers and 463 Territorial Army personnel who will now deploy to units within the Assam Regiment, Arunachal Scouts, and the Territorial Army.
Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmit Singh reviewed the ceremony alongside Lieutenant General Mohit Wadhwa, the General Officer Commanding of 101 Area. More than 3,500 family members watched as their relatives completed their formal training. During the event, the Army presented parents with the Gaurav Padak to honor their sacrifices and support.
The parade drew a significant international audience, with dignitaries from 11 countries including Bhutan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Seychelles in attendance. Governor Singh praised the recruits and emphasized the vital contribution of the Northeast region to national security. He encouraged the soldiers to maintain discipline, patriotism, and the core traditions of the force.
New inductees credited the rigorous training at the regimental center for building the resilience and purpose necessary for their military careers. The soldiers are now prepared to begin their service assignments across the country.
