Guwahati: Ledo Police and the 20th Assam Rifles collared an alleged drug trafficker during a raid in Malo village on Monday evening, September 7. Security forces acted on specific intelligence to launch the anti-drug operation. They found Yakum Hakhun, a local resident, holding 10 soap boxes stuffed with suspected narcotics.
Authorities value the seized haul at roughly Rs 40 lakh. The drugs are currently in police custody awaiting chemical testing. Investigators are working to trace the source of the substances and determine if Hakhun operated as part of a larger syndicate.
While police believe Hakhun is linked to trafficking, his exact involvement remains under investigation. An official stated, "the allegations are yet to be established and further investigation will determine his exact role." Police and Assam Rifles plan to keep up the pressure on the drug trade in the Ledo area with more raids in the coming days.
