Guwahati: Assam Police successfully intercepted narcotics valued at approximately 14.5 crore during recent operations in the Sribhumi and Nagaon districts. The coordinated effort resulted in the arrest of seven individuals linked to the illicit drug trade. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the crackdown on social media, emphasizing the government's ongoing efforts to dismantle trafficking networks across the state.
Addressing the success of the police units, Chief Minister Sarma reiterated that the state maintains a firm stance against smuggling syndicates. He described the ongoing initiative as a vital component of local law enforcement duties, stating, "Our war against drugs is absolute and unyielding."
These seizures follow another significant anti-drug operation conducted on June 16 in the Karbi Anglong district. During that mission, police recovered over 3 kilograms of morphine, valued at nearly 3 crore, from a vehicle headed toward Guwahati. Authorities arrested one suspect in that case, and the Chief Minister commended the rapid response of the officers involved. Officials confirmed that the broader crackdown on organized narcotics operations will continue throughout Assam.
