Assam Police Seize Counterfeit Currency Materials in Sivasagar

Guwahati: Sivasagar police seized a large cache of materials used for printing counterfeit currency during an operation at Kareng Tiniyal on May 21. Acting on specific intelligence, officers located the supplies and arrested Arshad Ali, a resident of Islam Patti in Golaghat, in connection with the discovery.

Authorities also seized an e-rickshaw and a mini dumper at the scene, which they believe were used to transport the illicit items. The drivers of these vehicles, Mofizul Haque and Bitul Barak, were detained for questioning to determine if they had a direct role in the operation or any connection to the suspect.

Investigators have sent the confiscated materials for laboratory examination to aid the ongoing inquiry. Police expect that further details about the scope of the network and the destination of the printing supplies will become clear as the investigation continues.
