Guwahati: Assam Police successfully dismantled a significant drug trafficking network originating from Manipur's Churachandpur district, leading to the seizure of narcotics valued at approximately ₹7 crore. The operation, conducted in the Kamrup district this past Saturday, resulted in the apprehension of four female couriers allegedly responsible for distributing the illicit substances.

According to Rajib Saikia, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Assam Police, authorities acted on credible intelligence regarding a trafficking ring led by 36-year-old Demthang Haokip. The group reportedly transported heroin to the Amingaon area, intending to distribute the contraband across lower Assam districts. The Special Task Force (STF), under the command of Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak, intercepted the suspects during the operation.
