Guwahati: Assam officials plan to finish 200,000 homes in just 100 days. Minister Atul Bora announced the ambitious target for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin scheme in the Assembly on July 8. The state built 22 lakh houses since 2016.

Bora confirmed the deadline during a session focused on rural development. "In the next 100 days, our target is to complete two lakh new houses and hand them over to the people," the minister said.

Congress MLA Tanzil Hussain challenged the administration during the session. He claimed workers faked geo-tagging data for some properties. Hussain demanded a formal investigation into the alleged fraud. The government has already finished geo-tagging for nearly 21 lakh homes. Bora promised his department would look into the reported irregularities.

Officials also updated the legislature on upcoming construction plans. A recent survey covered nearly 35 lakh homes across the state. Staff members are currently drafting the list of eligible residents to meet federal housing guidelines.
