Assam Pins Hopes on Japanese PM Visit to Drive Investment

Guwahati: Assam is betting big on a looming visit from Japan’s Prime Minister. State Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Bora claimed on July 9 that the trip will trigger a massive surge in industrial growth and foreign interest. The state wants to land new deals in manufacturing, infrastructure, and tech.

Bora believes the visit will push Assam into the spotlight as a major hub for Northeast India. He says local officials spent months building a solid environment for outside money to flow into the region. It is a long-term play for jobs. The goal is to make the state a magnet for trade.

"The proposed visit is very encouraging for us and for the people of Assam. As Assam continues to strengthen its industrial ecosystem, we are hopeful that this engagement will pave the way for increased investment from Japan and other neighbouring countries," Bora said. The minister remains confident that the diplomatic push will solidify economic ties and bring in international partners.
