Guwahati: Assam Agriculture, Irrigation and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika met with officials at Janata Bhawan on June 18 to oversee two major initiatives. The first focused on the Singua Flow Irrigation Scheme, which serves as the state’s pilot project for the Modernisation of Command Area Development Programme.

This initiative aims to upgrade irrigation efficiency through scientific water management across 1,427 hectares of farmland. Hazarika emphasized that the successful completion of this site is essential for future state-wide scaling. He stated that the project would contribute to the goal of "Har Khet Ko Pani" and act as a model for similar developments across the region.

In a second session, the minister addressed the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm. Discussions centered on increasing domestic production to boost local farm incomes and support national self-reliance goals for edible oil. Hazarika urged officials to prioritize sustainable agricultural growth and ensure tight coordination between stakeholders to meet these developmental targets.
