Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a major urban infrastructure transformation on May 23. The state is implementing 58 projects under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, known as AMRUT 2.0, with an investment exceeding Rs 861 crore.

The initiative aims to strengthen urban centers and improve the quality of life for residents. Key areas of focus include upgrading water supply systems, expanding sewerage networks, and restoring local water bodies. These efforts are designed to ensure better sanitation, provide cleaner surroundings, and increase access to reliable, clean water.

Government officials stated that the mission reflects a broader commitment to sustainable development. By prioritizing modern public utilities and planned growth, the projects seek to build civic infrastructure that keeps pace with the needs of the state's expanding urban population.
