Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has finalized preparations for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21. During a high-level review meeting, Sarma ordered officials to maintain a transparent and fair testing process, emphasizing the state's zero tolerance policy toward any form of malpractice.
To prevent irregularities, the government is introducing several security measures. Candidates must undergo double-layer frisking, while mobile jammers will be active at all testing centers to block electronic communication. Authorities will also enforce Section 144 within a 100-metre radius of venues to manage crowds and ensure order. All examination sites will operate under constant CCTV surveillance with 24-hour police protection.
Transporting question papers will involve military officials to protect against potential tampering or leaks. Addressing the security focus, Sarma stated, "Assam has always adopted stringent measures to eliminate loopholes in the examination process and safeguard the interests of students."
The state is also offering logistical support to students. Those with valid admit cards are eligible for free travel on Assam State Transport Corporation buses. Government officials from the education, transport, and police departments are coordinating these efforts to accommodate the thousands of candidates expected to participate across the state.
