Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state is modernizing its agricultural sector through the implementation of the Agri Stack digital platform. This initiative aims to support approximately 12.8 lakh farmers by streamlining fertilizer distribution and simplifying the process for receiving Minimum Support Price payments for paddy.

The system functions by assigning farmers a unique digital identity linked to their land records and Aadhaar information. By utilizing this Farmer ID, growers can secure fertilizer supplies without navigating complex paperwork. The platform also enables farmers to complete verification and procurement formalities digitally before they arrive at official centers.

Sarma emphasized that the state remains committed to inclusivity during this transition. He stated, "The initiative has been designed to protect genuine farmers while ensuring that those who are not yet digitally connected are not left behind."

To prevent the exclusion of vulnerable groups, the government has created specific pathways for those without formal digital records. Tenant farmers can gain access through landowner authorization, while those working on government land can use e-KYC verification. Small tea growers are also eligible for the platform's benefits even without a digital Farmer ID. By reducing administrative burdens, the project seeks to improve the overall transparency and efficiency of agricultural services across Assam.
