Guwahati: The Assam Governor appointed MAC Nojit Kemprai as an Executive Member of the 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council on Wednesday. The move follows official rules governing the district council. Kemprai previously represented the 20-Gunjung constituency in the 12th council and kept his seat unopposed earlier this year.

The Governor also removed Amendu Hojai from his post as Executive Member. Hojai represented the 23-Harangajao constituency but lost his executive standing in this latest shuffle. He stays on as a regular MAC, however. Hojai will continue to serve as an MAC in the 13th NCHAC.

This appointment shifts the power balance within the local government. The executive committee, directed by Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa, now holds 15 members in total. This group includes the CEM and 14 Executive Members tasked with council duties.
