Guwahati: Over 1.8 million farmers in Assam are set to receive direct financial support through the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. A total of Rs 372 crore was released to eligible beneficiaries, ensuring timely assistance for the upcoming farming season.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the virtual launch event on June 20, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a series of national development initiatives. The funds are being distributed through the Direct Benefit Transfer system to help families cover essential agricultural and household expenses.
Reflecting on the event, Chief Minister Sarma shared his participation on social media. He stated, "Honoured to have virtually joined Adarniya Narendra Modi ji at the launch of various transformative initiatives for the people. As part of the programme, the 23rd instalment of PM-KISAN was also released, which will benefit 18.60 lakh farmers in Assam with ₹372 crore."
The PM-KISAN program remains a key pillar of the Centre's strategy to strengthen rural livelihoods. By delivering cash assistance directly to bank accounts, the government aims to provide stability to the farming community across the country.
