Guwahati: Assam could see business opportunities worth nearly 700 crore generated by its growing concert sector, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The state is banking on large-scale entertainment events to drive significant growth across local hospitality, transportation, retail, and food and beverage industries.

Sarma pointed to the recent Post Malone concert in Guwahati as a primary indicator of this potential. The event served as a major milestone for the region, proving that international music acts can successfully draw crowds from across the country. Data showed that 53 percent of attendees traveled to Assam from other states for the performance.

The economic impact of the Post Malone concert alone reached an estimated 43 crore in spending. Following the success of this event, the Chief Minister remains focused on positioning the state as a prime destination for live entertainment and tourism. On social media, he stated, "Assam's emerging Concert Economy could fuel opportunities worth Rs 700 crore for our entrepreneurs."
