Assam Eidgah Committee Requests Alternative Sacrifice for Eid-ul-Adha

Guwahati: The Lathigram Eidgah Committee in Assam’s Cachar district has issued an appeal for the local community to refrain from sacrificing cows during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations. The decision follows a unanimous agreement reached by members during a meeting held at the Lathigram Eidgah premises.

Community representatives are encouraging residents to select alternative animals for the occasion. This initiative aims to uphold social harmony and honor the religious sentiments of diverse groups in the region, as cows hold significant cultural and spiritual meaning in traditional society.

Local leaders emphasized that the core values of Islam include peace, brotherhood, and coexistence. They argued that religious observances should not create tension or division within the neighborhood. By choosing different practices, the committee hopes to strengthen communal goodwill and demonstrate a commitment to mutual respect as the holiday approaches.
