Guwahati: The week-long Soma Yagna 2026, hosted by Unity in Divinity UK at the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Stanmore, dedicated its third day to the heritage of Assam. The event spotlighted the state's deep spiritual roots and artistic traditions before an international audience.

Organisers honoured Dr. Pritambar Dev Goswami, the Auniati Satra Satradhikar, for his work in safeguarding Vaishnavite and Satriya traditions. Addressing the crowd, Dr. Goswami discussed the history and philosophy of the Satra institution, noting its role in "fostering spiritual values, cultural continuity and social harmony across generations."

The cultural programme featured several performances reflecting the diversity of Assam. Rodali Bora performed a classical Sattriya dance, while Jahnabi Barua presented musical selections. Additionally, Plabita Mahanta paid tribute to cultural icon Dr. Bhupen Hazarika through a traditional Bhupendra Nritya dance.

The event drew praise from UK attendees and boosted the global visibility of Assamese traditions. As his visit continues, Dr. Goswami is set to address the British Parliament on June 17. This upcoming seminar will focus on the Satra tradition and its contributions to community values and peace on an international stage.
