Assam Conservationist Invited to Presidential Independence Day Reception

Guwahati: Didom Daimari, a conservationist from Angarajuli village in the Udalguri district of Assam, received an invitation to the President of India’s Independence Day At Home reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This honor recognizes his ten years of work protecting wildlife, restoring habitats, and mitigating human-elephant conflict. He holds a position as a Field Coordinator with the organization Aaranyak.

Daimari works alongside the Dhansiri Forest Division under the Bodoland Territorial Council Forest Department. As a member of the Dhansiri-Sikaridanga Joint Forest Management Committee, he coordinates forest restoration, wildlife protection, and community awareness programs. He also promotes eco-tourism as a certified guide for the BTC and Assam Tourism boards, currently serving as president of the Bhairabkunda Eco-Tourism and Conservation Society.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu praised the achievement on social media. Pegu stated, "Heartiest congratulations to Shri Didom Daimari of Angarajuli village in Udalguri district on being invited to the Hon’ble President of India’s Independence Day ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan."

Aaranyak officials stated the recognition highlights the value of local leaders. It signals pride for the Dhansiri-Sikaridanga Joint Forest Management Committee and the residents of Angarajuli. Daimari leads the Angarajuli Homestay Committee to grow local livelihoods. The national recognition confirms the growing importance of community-driven environmental protection across the country.
