Guwahati: Anamur Rahman, the General Secretary of the Minority Department for the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, has officially resigned from his position and primary party membership. In a letter sent to the APCC President on June 14, 2026, he requested that the party accept his departure and relieve him of all duties effective immediately.

Rahman served in a leadership role within the state Congress and held additional responsibilities as a supervisor for the Nagaon and Lakhimpur districts. While the resignation occurs during a period of shifting political dynamics in Assam, he stated that the decision was voluntary and based on private concerns.

Reflecting on his tenure, Rahman expressed appreciation for his time with the organization. He wrote, "I have been serving as the General Secretary of the Minority Department under the present leadership of the state Congress." He did not report any internal conflicts or political disagreements as reasons for his departure.
