Guwahati: Two Assam Congress legislators want heads to roll in the youth wing. Laharighat MLA Dr. Asif Md. Nazar and Gauripur MLA Abdus Sobahan Ali Sarkar fired off a letter to the Indian Youth Congress leadership demanding disciplinary action against APYC president Zubair Anam Mazumder. The dispute stems from a party meeting at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati on May 21, 2026.

Trouble started when Mazumder rolled into the session thirty minutes late. APCC president Gaurav Gogoi confronted him about the tardiness. According to the MLAs, Mazumder did not take the critique well. He allegedly raised his voice and acted in a dismissive manner, disrupting the high-level meeting of elected officials and senior leaders.

The lawmakers claim the outburst damaged the party image after a tough election cycle. They wrote that his behavior was "unacceptable" and ignored internal standards of conduct. Mazumder has not commented on the accusations. The internal complaint now sits with the national IYC office for review.
