Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Sunday to discuss expanding India’s Act East Policy. The conversation focused on leveraging Assam’s geographic position to enhance regional trade and tourism across Southeast Asia.
Held at the official residence of the External Affairs Minister, the meeting centered on Assam's role as a primary gateway to the Northeast and neighboring international markets. Sarma described the session as insightful, noting that Jaishankar provided valuable perspectives on current geopolitical challenges and global affairs.
The two leaders reviewed how Assam can further contribute to the government's broader efforts to improve cross-border commerce and connectivity under the Act East framework.
