Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led a high-level review meeting on June 18 to evaluate the progress of the state's education sector. Joined by officials from the Finance and Education departments, the Chief Minister analyzed current budgetary spending and the status of flagship programs like Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu.

The discussion encompassed several support initiatives, including the distribution of textbooks, bicycles, and scooters. Leaders also tracked the success of the Free Admission Scheme, which helps students pursue higher education. Authorities paid special attention to the operational status of Government Model Colleges and Tea Garden Model Schools, alongside updates on active teacher recruitment efforts.

Sarma addressed concerns regarding dropout rates in higher education and evaluated proposals for creating new academic posts and upgrading existing high schools into higher secondary institutions. The Chief Minister directed all involved departments to ensure the timely execution of these programs, stating he wants officials to "ensure the timely execution and effective implementation of ongoing educational initiatives to strengthen the state's education ecosystem and improve learning opportunities for students across Assam."
