Assam Chief Minister Mourns 15 Indian Tourists Killed in Vietnam Boat Crash

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his grief today following a deadly speedboat accident near Vietnam. Fifteen Indian tourists died when their vessel capsized off the coast of Phu Quoc Island.

The boat carried 36 people in total. This included 32 Indian nationals and four local crew members. Authorities managed to rescue 21 survivors from the water, but the others perished. Local officials in Vietnam have started an investigation to figure out why the boat went down.

Sarma shared the official list of victims released by the Indian Embassy in Hanoi. He reached out to the families of the dead. "On behalf of the people of Assam, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families," Sarma wrote on X. He prayed for the peace of the victims.
