Kohima: Nagaland University hosted a one day online session on August 27 to discuss the implementation of NEP 2020 in higher education. The event ran under the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2026 and the Union Ministry of Education. It brought together experts to map out the future of Indian classrooms.
Prof. Bendang Ao from the university Research and Development Centre detailed local progress. He pointed to new initiatives like the Academic Bank of Credits, SWAYAM, and MOOCs. The school has also added Indian Knowledge Systems, launched AI courses, and signed deals with international partners.
Prof. C.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University, led the first lecture on regulatory frameworks. He argued that schools must sync academic goals with the job market. Sharma stated, "Academic knowledge must align with employment requirements." He also pushed for stronger ties between higher and school education while promoting mother tongue instruction.
The second session featured Prof. K. Srinivas from the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration. He focused on AI integration within teaching. Teachers must now master digital tools to survive in a modern environment. Srinivas showed participants how to use platforms like Moodle, Canvas, and Google Classroom. He also demonstrated AI prompts for research and daily instruction, warning that educators must prioritize responsible use while building better soft skills.
