Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with three Union ministers in New Delhi on June 1 to secure support for energy exploration, trade growth, and infrastructure development. The high-level talks aimed to integrate the state more deeply into national economic initiatives.

During his session with Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Sarma focused on increasing hydrocarbon production. The two leaders explored ways to boost exploration across Assam, aiming to leverage the state's resources to better support India's broader economic goals.

Sarma also consulted with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal regarding the state's economic outlook. They examined the potential benefits of recent Free Trade Agreements for local farmers and entrepreneurs. The discussion also addressed pressing challenges currently facing the tea industry.

Infrastructure progress was the primary focus during a meeting with Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. They reviewed the status of key developments, such as the Brahmaputra underwater tunnel, elevated corridors at Kaziranga, and various highway expansion projects. Sarma emphasized the need to accelerate these works to improve statewide connectivity and drive regional growth.
