Assam Approves 16,810 New Homes Under PMAY 2.0

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the approval of 16,810 additional homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) 2.0. The state has already received Rs 220.12 crore in funding to support this expansion, which aims to provide secure, permanent housing for thousands of families.

Sharing the update on X, Sarma noted that the initiative remains central to the government goal of improving living conditions for citizens. He credited the progress to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the housing scheme has transformed the lives of countless beneficiaries by providing permanent homes and improving living conditions across Assam.

As of May 29, 2026, the state is also processing approvals for an additional 27,544 homes. The Chief Minister stated that these latest approvals reflect the commitment of the government to ensuring housing security and enhancing the quality of life for eligible families throughout the state.
