Guwahati: Top brass from Karbi Anglong and Dimapur met at the Circuit House in Dimapur on Thursday to lock in a new peace plan. Karbi Anglong Deputy Commissioner Aranyak Saikia joined civil and police leaders from both states to build trust across the border. They need this border quiet. The sides agreed to tighten coordination between administrations and police forces to kill conflicts before they grow.
Assam revenue officials pulled out historical records during the session. They presented boundary notifications, revenue papers, and census data to prove the disputed villages fall under Assam jurisdiction. They noted these spots show up in decades of electoral rolls. Despite the ongoing legal fight over the border, both sides decided to keep the status quo until competent authorities issue a final ruling.
The two states are launching a joint border monitoring committee to watch the area. It will include police, district officials, and village representatives to facilitate dialogue and calm tensions. "The decision was taken during a coordination meeting held at the Circuit House in Dimapur, attended by Karbi Anglong Deputy Commissioner Aranyak Saikia, senior civil and police officials from Assam, and their counterparts from Dimapur."
Officials also plan to perform joint patrols at sensitive spots. This move aims to strip away friction and boost transparency. They walked away from the meeting with a firm promise to keep talking and prevent trouble in the region.
