Angry Mob Torches Assam Film Venue After Screening Failure

Guwahati: A frustrated crowd trashed a local venue in Thilapara village, Langhin, after organizers failed to screen a film. Tempers flared in Assam's Karbi Anglong district when ticket holders grew tired of waiting. The audience came to see the film Chandum. The event was presented by B Boys.

The wait turned into chaos. Angry viewers turned on the property. They smashed more than 100 plastic chairs in the resulting frenzy. A fire ignited at the site shortly after the vandalism began. Videos of the destruction are now spreading across social media.

Tension remains high throughout the Langhin area today. The specific circumstances leading to the delays and the full extent of the property loss remain unclear. Authorities have yet to provide details on police action, but the incident left the venue in ruins. One report noted that "several people who had purchased tickets from the organising committee were left waiting for a prolonged period without being able to watch the film."
