Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has called for improved inter-departmental collaboration to accelerate the implementation of the Lakhpati Didi initiative. During a state-level steering committee meeting held in Itanagar on June 19, officials were instructed to prioritize eligible beneficiaries for state and centrally sponsored welfare schemes.
Sonal Swaroop, Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, led the session at the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission office. She emphasized that departments must work together to ensure that identified women can secure a sustainable annual household income of at least Rs 1 lakh. Swaroop stated, "Coordinated efforts were necessary to expand livelihood opportunities and improve the income levels of SHG members across the state."
The administration has requested detailed reports on benefits provided to self-help group members under various Atmanirbhar schemes over the past two years. This data will help officials evaluate the current impact of these interventions on the program's goals. Participants from the agriculture, horticulture, veterinary, and skill development sectors discussed strategies for livelihood diversification, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion.
District-level committees, chaired by deputy commissioners, will now carry this work forward by reviewing data and assessing specific training needs for local beneficiaries. The Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board also highlighted market linkage projects, such as Mission Arun Himveer, to support women entrepreneurs. The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to strengthening the socio-economic empowerment of rural women through these integrated efforts.
