Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is moving forward with plans to establish the Institute for Transforming Arunachal, a dedicated state-level policy think tank. Chief Minister Pema Khandu confirmed that the project is gaining momentum through a strategic partnership with NITI Aayog, the federal government's primary policy institution. The initiative aims to create an autonomous knowledge body that provides research-driven guidance tailored to the unique geographical, cultural, and economic needs of the state.

The institute will function as a hub for evidence-based policymaking, assisting the government in framing sustainable growth strategies. Its core mandate includes monitoring development indicators, strengthening institutional governance, and providing technical expertise for project design. By bridging the gap between central policy frameworks and local on-ground realities, the institute will focus on sectors such as hydropower, tourism, organic agriculture, border area economics, and youth empowerment.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein noted that the institute will help unlock the state's significant potential by improving data systems and cross-sectoral planning. The project follows years of collaboration between state officials and NITI Aayog on various programs, including innovation ecosystems and aspirational district initiatives. Khandu expressed his appreciation to NITI Aayog member Dr. Joram Aniya and CEO Nidhi Chhibber for their ongoing support in advancing this developmental framework for the frontier state.
