Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Industries Minister Nyato Dukam opened the administrative block at the Rongoge Mega Food Park in Dolikoto near Banderdewa on July 11. This project aims to bridge the gap between farm production and retail markets. It uses a hub-and-spoke model to stop crops from rotting and creates jobs for locals.
Construction spans 75 acres with ready access to power, water, and roads. Lead promoter Likha Maj said the site will eventually host 35 food processing units. "There will be a food testing laboratory, and investor meetings will also be held here in the future," he said. The park already employs 45 people, including engineers and nutritionists.
The facility houses a BIS-certified laboratory to test raw materials. Officials started the project in 2019 but COVID-19 and bureaucratic slowdowns pushed back the timeline. It is the only site of its kind in Arunachal Pradesh.
Minister Dukam promises full operation by 2027. Local entrepreneurs can apply for government grants covering up to 75 percent of their costs to set up shop. Dukam noted the project beat several forest clearance hurdles to reach this point.
