Itanagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Arunachal Pradesh, warning residents and local authorities to prepare for potential weather-related emergencies. Forecasters expect widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and isolated heavy showers to impact the region over the next five days.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to hit Kamle, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, Siang, Leparada, Lower Siang, and East Siang on Thursday. The weather intensity will likely increase on Friday, with Upper Siang placed under an orange alert. Papum Pare, Lower Siang, and Leparada are also bracing for intense rainfall, while several other districts expect heavy showers and lightning.

The weather system will shift toward the southwestern and eastern regions by Saturday, putting West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, and Lohit at risk of heavy to very heavy precipitation. While conditions are expected to improve from Sunday, the IMD noted, "the overall weather situation is likely to ease further by Monday, although moderate to heavy rainfall may still occur in isolated pockets of the state."

Officials have advised those living in low-lying or landslide-prone areas to monitor weather updates closely. Residents should remain vigilant and follow guidance from local disaster management agencies until the system clears.
