Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated a modern DIY Lab at the Arunachal Pradesh Innovation and Investment Park in Guwahati on Friday. The facility provides startups with advanced prototyping tools, including 3D printers, electronic equipment, and food quality testing technology. This infrastructure allows entrepreneurs to refine products and prepare for market entry before beginning large-scale manufacturing.
During a startup pitching session, Mein emphasized the government's role in shifting the local mindset from seeking employment to creating it. He praised the state for its recognition as the Best Performer State in the 2025 National Startup Ranking, an honor received in January 2026. Regarding the facility's vision, he stated that it focuses on creating "job givers instead of job seekers."
The event also served as a platform for 13 incubated startups to present their business models to various venture capital firms, including NEDFi Venture Capital Limited and IIM Ahmedabad Ventures. APIIP Chief Executive Officer Tabe Haidar noted that the lab acts as a creative hub for students and founders to build commercially viable products. He urged investors to capitalize on the state's expanding entrepreneurial potential.
To support this rapid growth, Mein announced plans for a new APIIP building in the upcoming financial year and confirmed the government is seriously considering a proposal for a state-sponsored venture fund. This financial backing aims to bolster the existing Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Programme, which recently entered its fifth edition with increased seed funding capacity.
