Arunachal Pradesh Launches AI Boot Camp at IIT Guwahati

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh opened its first artificial intelligence boot camp and hackathon at IIT Guwahati on September 23. Organizers picked 40 participants from a pool of 97 applicants. These students will undergo intensive training to build AI solutions for real-world problems. The program wraps up on October 1 after covering machine learning, Python, and natural language processing.

The event is a joint effort between the Arunachal Pradesh Centre of Excellence on Artificial Intelligence, the State Council of IT and eGovernance, IIT Guwahati, and NIT Arunachal Pradesh. It operates under the IndiaAI program of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The IIT Guwahati director kicked off the event. He told the attendees, "approach the training with curiosity and a willingness to learn."

Following the training, a hackathon runs October 2 and 3. Judges will grade the final projects on innovation, technical skill, and practical application. Officials including Chief Minister Pema Khandu and SCITeG Chairman Nyamar Karbak lead the initiative. The state wants to build a skilled digital workforce and foster local talent through this hands-on experience.
