Arunachal Pradesh honors top-performing tribal girl students in Tirap

Itanagar: Meritorious tribal girl students from across the Tirap district were recognized for their academic achievements during a special event held at the DC Conference Hall in Khonsa on June 17. Organized by the Department of Women and Child Development, the ceremony celebrated the outstanding performance of local students in their Class X and Class XII board examinations under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.

Deputy Commissioner of Tirap, Techu Aran, presided over the event and highlighted the growing role of young women in society. During his address, he noted, "Girls today are excelling in every sphere of life. Whether in academics, competitive examinations or leadership roles, they are proving their capabilities and often outperforming boys." He encouraged parents to maintain equal treatment for children of both genders while continuing to prioritize the education of their daughters.

Hacham Bangsia, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development, detailed the program objectives, which include ensuring the protection and education of the girl child. The awards were distributed across two categories, covering both government and private recognized schools. First-place students received cash prizes of ₹15,000, while second-place finishers were awarded ₹10,000.

The recipients included Nyiamjih Agan and Komnoap Nokbi for Class X government schools, as well as Nyari Rongsak and Comvian Tesia for Class XII government institutions. From the private sector, Chanyok Lowang and Aaronsen C. Tangjang, both from RK Sarada Mission School, were honored for their top rankings. The ceremony concluded with officials emphasizing that fostering female education remains vital for the long-term progress of the community.
