Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has launched a series of reforms to boost the state economy and public infrastructure. Key measures include a proposed ordinance to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, a significant rural road development program, and updates to land use regulations.
The new MSME ordinance introduces a self-declaration system to simplify operations and ease regulatory burdens. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, "the initiative is expected to improve the ease of doing business, promote entrepreneurship, attract investments and create employment opportunities in the state."
To improve rural accessibility, the government finalized the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive State Rural Road Development Programme. This project plans to build 6,567 kilometres of road over the next three years at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore, aiming to connect 1,129 remote habitations by 2029. In urban sectors, the Cabinet amended land settlement rules to allow automatic land use conversion for agricultural plots within master plan areas.
Officials also reviewed the progress of the Shikshit Bharat to Shikshit Arunachal Mission. With an investment of Rs 3,612.50 crore already utilized, the mission has consolidated schools, enhanced digital learning, and improved CBSE pass rates. An additional Rs 1,500 crore is proposed for the project's second phase to continue these educational upgrades.
Other administrative actions include a one-year age relaxation for specific APPSC job aspirants, amendments to the APSSB chairman appointment rules, and the extension of the Administrative Reforms Commission. Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the Arunachal Pradesh Cooperation Policy 2026 and aligned state labour laws with federal safety and health standards.
