Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh and Assam have agreed to deepen their partnership in excise administration and enforcement to curb illegal trade activities. This decision followed a high-level ministerial meeting in Itanagar on Wednesday, June 17, aimed at boosting regional revenue mobilization.

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein chaired the session, which included Assam’s Minister for Excise, Atul Bora, along with senior officials from both state finance and excise departments. The participants reviewed current operational hurdles and shared potential strategies to improve cross-border coordination.

Mein emphasized that regional stability depends on these collaborative efforts. He stated, "Close coordination between neighbouring States is essential for effective governance and implementation of laws and policies."

The meeting resulted in a commitment to establish a formal roadmap for future engagement. Both states plan to hold regular review sessions to align their policies, adopt new technologies, and address emerging challenges in excise management to protect the public interest.
