Arunachal Police Arrest Suspected Drug Peddler in Upper Siang

Itanagar: Police in Arunachal Pradesh arrested an alleged drug user and peddler in Yingkiong as part of an ongoing effort to curb substance abuse in the Upper Siang district. Authorities launched the operation after receiving specific intelligence regarding the movement of a suspected individual in the area.

Inspector Kari Pertin led a team that tracked down and apprehended the suspect in Yingkiong. During the search, officers recovered a quantity of suspected heroin and cannabis. The seizure was conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate Tailyang Tomo, and the contraband was taken into custody according to standard legal procedures.

A case has been registered at the Yingkiong Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Inspector Pertin confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the extent of the activity.

Following the arrest, local police appealed to the community and civil society organizations for continued cooperation in addressing the drug issue. Officials urged young people to avoid substance abuse and encouraged the public to report any information regarding narcotics activities to the authorities.
