Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister P D Sona chaired the ninth meeting of the State Higher Education Council in Itanagar on May 19, where he emphasized the critical need for the efficient utilization of central government funds. The discussion focused on strengthening the state's higher education sector through the timely completion of projects under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA).

Highlighting the financial constraints faced by the state, Minister Sona underscored the necessity of balancing project quality with economical resource management. To maintain consistency and structural integrity across new developments, the government has mandated that all upcoming infrastructure initiatives will be handled exclusively by the Public Works Department. The minister also advocated for rigorous oversight and consistent monitoring of all ongoing schemes to ensure projects meet their scheduled deadlines.

During the session, State Education Commissioner Amjad Tak advised the council to maintain a proactive role in guiding the development of technical and higher education. He specifically requested that all higher educational institutions prioritize the procurement of land allotment and possession certificates immediately. Additionally, Dr. Miloras Modi, Director of Higher and Technical Education, and State Nodal Officer Minto Ete provided comprehensive updates on the current status of infrastructure projects and the logistical framework required to achieve the council's holistic development goals.
