Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein believes the Northeast region has successfully transitioned into a major center for national development. Over the last 12 years, focused policy efforts and sustained financial investments have turned a region previously defined by isolation into a hub for economic activity.

Infrastructure upgrades are the primary drivers of this change. Mein pointed to critical benchmarks such as the electrification of 96 percent of regional railways, full household electrification, and the completion of eight greenfield airports. These physical improvements have significantly bolstered tourism and internal trade.

Specific projects like the Sela Tunnel have provided all-weather access to Tawang, effectively ending the historical disruptions caused by seasonal heavy snowfall. Reflecting on this progress, Mein stated, "A route once disrupted by heavy snowfall is now accessible throughout the year."

Improved mobility through expanded railway networks and modern road construction has bridged once-disconnected communities. According to Mein, these advancements have solidified the region's status as "a vibrant hub of peace, opportunity, and economic progress."
